Welcome to the Aviation & Aircraft forum.

First of all please note...If you'd like to ask about travelling, airline baggage info, times, schedules, destinations etc please ask at the Travel and Holidays Forum

This forum is for discussing general aviation, commercial, military and other types of aviation which includes aircraft, technical, private flying, airlines, careers, licencing and training, spotting, airport news etc.

By posting on Boards.ie you agree to its terms of use and privacy policy

It is very important to note that generally, to protect integrity of the forum, nothing will be deleted by Mods without a valid reason. Don't post unless you can stand by what you're saying and be aware it will be viewable forever by anyone.

General Boards.ie Guidelines apply to all Boards.ie forums. Read them by clicking here

Please post photos and images to the Photo Gallery

Subject to mod discretion, breaking any of the below guidelines may result in an infraction, then ban. Further to that you may be perma or site banned.
    • No personal abuse- This is not your playground. Have respect for others and expect the same in return.
    • Attack the post-not the poster, don't get personal and offensive..or you'll be banned.
    • No spamming. Do not advertise anything of commercial interest to you.
    • Be aware everything posted here is searchable and viewable by anyone..don't slag your boss or your girlfriend, remember whatever you say may come back to you.
    • Anyone claiming to represent a company or an organisation must be able to prove their connection with the company/organisation. Don't claim to be anyone you're not or you will get caught out.
    • If you see something that breaks the rules, use the report function and it will alert one of the mods take action. Don't enter a flame war or rise to any abuse, just report it and it will be stopped.
    • Try to keep photos that you post of 800 pixels width
    • No airline bashing, we don't want any legal matters on our hands.
    • General boards.ie rules apply, keep everything squeaky clean.

Please follow the process below to resolve issues with posting or other posters.

If you have a problem with a post, use the "Report Post" button (it's marked on the left side of each post with a symbol) to report it to the moderators. Do not take it on yourself to regulate the forum. Respect the decisions made my Mods to resolve the issues.

If you have a problem with an action of the moderators, the steps are as follows:
    • PM them directly to discuss it
    • If that fails, PM all of the moderators to discuss it
    • If that fails, PM the Category Moderator
    • If that fails, take it to the Help Desk forum, where it will be dealt with and seen by the admins.

Along the way, it might be determined that it's not so much a problem with a moderator as with the moderation itself; in which case you may need to take it up on the Feedback forum. At any rate, please remember that there are hundreds of thousands of users on boards.ie and the number of complaints can be quite high; so go through the steps. It alleviates the strain on the CMods and Admins, which adds to the merit of your complaint.

The mods for this forum are: Tenger , Irish Steve and L1011, and the cmods are unkel and tricky D

The legal stuff ...Important Please Read!

While the temptation is there to curse the very ground that certain members of the aviation industry walk on, please be very very aware that boards.ie is a company and can be sued. Essentially, as soon as comments are posted here (And in any other forum) about people, or companies in a derogatory form, it becomes libel, and opens our site up to huge ramifications. What you post may be edited or removed at our discretion and you do not have the right to slag or write anything that maybe taken as libel about anyone or anything. Don't be offended if threads or posts are removed from public view while they are checked for libel and RESPECT the decisions of mods made about what you post...its for everyone's own good.

To give an example of what's okay, and what's not, a good example was given in another forum. If I get a bag of chips in McDunnigans and it's a bit cold, uncooked and I say so, that's fine, as it's my statement of a personally known fact. However, if I say McDunnigans is a hell hole of culinary proportions, and everything they cook comes with salmonella on the side, well then that's libel.

There is also a requirement to respect the data protection laws. You may know some personal information about another boards.ie member. You CANNOT post that information onto this site without the specific permission of that member.

Due to the very high standards required by the law in this area, if there is any doubt about permission having been given, the post, or section of the post will be removed from public view pending clarification.

Failure to respect this rule will normally result in a ban.

If personal information about you has been posted without your permission by another member, report the post so that action can be taken to deal with the matter.

The long and the short of it is that we'll be keeping a closer eye on threads, and removing offending material to keep boards.ie safe in legal waters. If a poster repeat offends, they will get a ban. Simple as that.

    Suggestions welcome at any time.
