was collecting my mates daughter recently and parked up on the footpath in front of me was a van half on the path/road, i was standing watching the traffic warden having a laugh with the lolly pop lady and a friend of his who double parked. he took out his camera and pretended to take pictures of his mate,

so the warden crossed the road walked past the van straight to my car and started issuing a ticket, i went down to him and asked was there a difference between my car the van and his mate across the road, he told me he can ring the cops, i got into my car and drove off,

thing is he got the street name wrong and never put the ticket on the window and didnt take a photo,
e40 fine today, wrote to the council,,
do i have a leg to stand on,
is ti his word againist mine if it went to court.

You broke the law driving away, and parking on a footpath.

OP didn't say he was parked on the footpath, in fairness. He was referring to the van.

It's worded quite funnily, so we'll see what the OP has to say :P

Technically if the ticket isnt actually on your vehicle by the time you get in you can get away with it!

My car was on the path, the van was half on the path and half on the road.

OP - I'd have reported the warden for what happened with the other car. I can't see how this makes your own ticket any less deserved, though?

whatever about fairness and what the van did.... you parked illegally so you deserve to be fined......
you cannot justify your actions by the actions of others...

Then you were illegally parked, hence the fine!

Not true, if the OP drove off while being issued with the ticket.

got in touch with co. council and they quashed the fine, happy days:D

    Hi,

Glad it was quashed, I don't agree with the other posters here that you deserved the fine, if you were simply stopping for a minute to collect someone I don't see what the problem is, everyone is just too damn serious and by the book these days ... come on, it's not like you parked there and f#@ked off to the pub or shopping or something ... jeez.

the van had the decency to leave some space for path users to get by, start thinking about buggys, wheelchairs, the elderly and the blind, people like you deserve fines and i wish it wasn't squashed

it will be posted it you, think about it, you get a fine you don't see it and a kid comes along and pulls it and you never see it, does that mean your not fined, if that was the case then everyone would say "oh, but there was no fine on my window"

OP if you ever park up on a path and block it and return to find the pathside door scraped you'll know it was me with my double buggy.

It may LOOK like it was done deliberately with a key/coin; but I can assure you it was unavoidable for safety reasons.

A caring mother that doesnt want her children hurt by walking out on a dangerous road,so instead chooses the safest way but that way happens to cause damage to a car illegally parked?

    Nice one.

The people that are "just popping in for a minute" are the worst kind of inconsiderate ****wit in my experience. They are usually blocking people and/or trafific to some degree and making a nuisence of themselves.
Theres always somewhere to park properly, people just wont walk their lazy arses a bit further or inconvenience themselves.

these mothers should learn the safe cross road then instead of educating there children on the ways of mindless vandals, one big circle if the responsible parents do it, its only a matter of time before there kids start it,
