    Hi,

I am contemplating buying a refurbished Dell XPS 1640. There are 2 machines on offer with the same processor (P8600) and 4 GB Ram. The only difference is for an additional €100 I will get an upgrade on the graphics card and on the led screen -1024MB DDR3 Ati Radeon HD 4670 Graphics from 512MB Ati Radeon HD 3670; AND 1080p display from 720p.
Is worth spending the extra for display and graphics card? Will I notice a big difference on the upgrade?

Intended use: internet, e-mail, Word processing, excel, photoshop, store music and photos, webcam for skype. I am not a serious gammer.
    Thanks

For photoshop I would prefer the 1080p screen. It'll give you more 'real estate' so to speak. For eg., - you can see more of the image that you're working on, without scrolling around so much. Personally I think 1366x768 on a 15.6" screen is too low in this day and age. I mean, I had 12" laptops back in the 90s with the same vertical resolution :pac:

The upgraded GPU won't really make a difference to you, from the sounds of your needs/requirements.

So it boils down to the screen, and its hard to call if the upgrade will be worth €100 to you. Its a lot to pay to be honest. Its just something you have to decide yourself. Have you used low-res and high-res screens before?

Also, is the 1080p screen the WLED one or the RGBLED one?

thats good upgrade value for money tbh. I'd go for it just for values sake.

Its defo not RGBled- another 150euro for that I am afraid!
    Thanks for the advise guys.

One other question on the processor, is there much difference between an Intel P8600 (core 2 duo 2.4ghz, 3mb cache) and a P7350 (core 2 duo 2ghz, 3mb cache? This will save me €50.00 which I could put towards the upgrade on the screen.

Upgrade on screen or better processor?

I have also been offered to upgrade from windows 7 32 bit to 64bit for additional €29.00, is this necessary? I heard that most programmes today are still 32 bit. Is worth spending the extra €29 now?

I think its a disgrace theyre charging for an upgrade to 64-bit. Should be free.
