Hormone Imbalences

    Hi,

    Long-time lurker, first time poster...

I'm a 23 year old male living in Barcelona. Cholesterol is generally high in the family so had a blood test there a few weeks ago. Had other stuff tested too. Turns out I have very low testosterone levels and reasonably high oestogen levels. Basically, the man boobs I developed as a teenager are not down to the weight issues I had back then, the 2 just sorta coincided. I'll be having a mammectomy during the summer, but the doctor also recommended I take pills to sort out the testosterone lacking thing.

Neither my Catalan or Castillian are good enough to ask the doc what effect this would have on me given my age, so I'm wondering if anyone out there has had a similar issue. I'm not very hairy at all, which he attributed to the hormones. Would this result in me getting hairier? I've never been able to grow a full beard. I have hair on my face, but it just looks silly if I don't shave it :D. My genetalia are rather small also (testes and penis), would this cause growth? Will I experience mood swings? Would I fail a sports drug test (will tell the league, but just curious)?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
Did you just ask for a general hormone test? Im female and think i have high testoterone levels, lots of acne, hairy (shave it of course), and im quite aggressive for female. I keep asking for hormone test, but they just put me on the pill. Id like to get one done.

Well im not medical expert, but you will get more hairy and maybe your penis will enlarge. As for the language, im in france. In the big hospitals i find they speak English. In GP they only speak french. Maybe a close friend can go with you to translate everything. Maybe you can use google translate with the questions before hand on a piece of paper. I normally try to translate everything on Google before i go to the doctors, because the medical terms can be different and they pronounciation too.

Is it possible to see a GP say over Christmas in Ireland? To say you are in Barcelona, and if they could explain in English? My ex went to his local GP and translated some of my test results. Its not common practise to discuss someone elses medical condition, but they were willing to help me and his GP actually phoned me to explain some thing to me.

Oh yeah you might fail drug test, but then Larce Armstrong was on hormone replacement for testicular cancer and still did the tour de france. So for medical reasons, i think its acceptable if you tell them.

But once again, not a GP and best if you find a way to communicate with a GP. Or search the net.
