In the middle of filling out my form and just wondering if anyone has any experience with this.

Will they try to pull the "over 18" argument or will it go smoothly?

I know I can use the "confirmed at 12" argument but that's just extra hassle.

    Thanks! :D

Probably not, but very interested to see how you would get on.

Actually you are not the first person I have heard ask this and I have had many people ask me on the Atheist Ireland blog (blog.atheist.ie) and through the Atheist Ireland You Tube Channel because of the video with one of the founding members of countmeout.ie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2HBfNtZefs)

I am surprised it is not in the FAQ at www.countmeout.ie and maybe you can write to them and ask them to include it. I will do the same again. Anyone else interested should too. If enough of us ask then maybe they will find out and add it in for us.

    MY BAD!

They have finally included it since I last checked:
We asked the Diocese of Cork and Ross this question. The Diocesan Secretary, Fr. Tom Deenihan, responded as follows:

"I would think that, because of the implications of such a decision, a person should be 18 before making such a decision"

However, it's important to note that this is not an official position and, moreover, that the Church considers the age of 12 old enough to decide whether to be confirmed or not.

There is no minimum age to be baptised into the Church.

So they can be dragged into it before they even know what a book is, and shouldn't be let leave it til they're old enough to despise it. ?
