I havent a clue how much they charge but Ive heard that Stream Solutions (Wilton) are good to deal with.

I presume its not in warranty and not wrong something like brightness settings?

I'd second Stream, they are very efficient and straight forward to deal with. Personally wouldn't recommend AtMac in Penrose Wharf at all.

Ok thank you very much for the replies....

It's definitely not the brightness settings, I actually spilled orange juice on it! But the laptop was switched off and closed at the time but I think some of the juice possibly got into it from the underneath somehow. It appeared to be working fine initially but I have noticed now in a lowly lit room, the keyboard and screen cannot seem to adjust and they actually blink on and off until the main bright light in the room is switched on - then the blinking stops!!

Would you have any idea of something like this would be expensive to fix??? Difficult to say I suppose....

Is the problem only in low light or if you change lighting? Working okay in good light?

If so, it sounds like a problem with the ambient light sensor. Try disabling that feature and set your screen / keyboard not to change with different room light. At least it will stop the flickering.

Let us know if that works.

You could give CompuB, newly opened on Patrick St a go. They are only open in Cork a week or two, but have a great customer base in Limerick, with years and years worth of happy customers. I'd give them a shot.

Theres a mac shop over in Penrose wharf called atmac.

I have gone in there with a few ipod repairs and general mac queries, and the lads in there are some of the nicest i have met!

thanks everyone for your suggestions guys - I tried switching off that ambient setting but it continues to flicker, so it looks like the hardware has been damaged - I will need to contact one of the above mentioned shops!!!thanks again
