Hey, does anybody here who is on the maintainance grant know when the 2nd installment is due? I remember getting it before xmas last year as mine was sent earlier. Anyway as far as I know it is like mid January but not too sure. Anybody have any idea?
    Thanks

I still haven't gotten approved for mine! Stupid Kildare CC

I think you're right about mid January, but there is a sign at the registry door directly across from the bank in the street that has the dates on it

Bad news! I just rang my local county council grants office to enquire about when it is due and she informed me that due to tomorrows budget it may
    (1) Take longer to arrive after xmas.
    (2) Be less than the usual amount.

This sucks balls there was talks of cuts being made in the grant last year but it didnt seem to happen. Now this could very well mean less money and longer waiting period. More debt for me so

That is absolutley ridiculous! That shouldn't affect funds already set aside for this year.

So how does this work, will we be able to just check it on the budget website tomorrow evening to see if their was cuts?

5% cut then, which is about a €75 cut for me. I guess it's acceptable tbh.

Hey phasers, how you know its a 5% cut? I saw it listed on the budget as being reduced but it didnt say by how much. I'm on the full maintainance grant so its like just over €3k per year. 5% is not bad, I was expecting worse.

It could have been worse I guess

have you heard back from them about it Patrick? I applied end of August and haven't heard a dickie bird yet....any idea how long it takes them to process these things?

Yeah I applied at the same time and haven't got anything not even an e-mail confirming my application,

The fees have to be paid pretty soon and I don't want to be taking out a student loan

What's the deal if you're in the middle of a masters ? Do we still get the 2nd and 3rd instalment ?
