Hi, we're putting up new skirting boards in our house.

We're going to paint them white - I'm just wondering if anyone has any opinions on advantages / disadvantages on MDF lengths versus softwood (White Deal) lengths?

Also, roughly what price should I expect to pay for them per foot or per metre?

    Thanks.

    MDF look crap.
Painted skirting in general looks poor.

MDF usually expands and crumbles when it absorbs water, in case the floors ever become wet.

Fine puting the MDF in bedrooms, living rooms etc where there are no mops being used to wash floors. Everwhere else use a wood skirting, baths, kitchen, backhall etc
