    Hi guys,

What is the quickest possible time in which a couple can get married legally? i.e. literally sign the form and done. I'm talking is same day possible in Ireland? I'm not talking about terminally ill.

    Thanks.

You need to get registered to marry 3 months in advance.

    3 Months!
Can you do it in N. Ireland or the UK quicker?

A friend of mine got maried in England in 2003 and they had to give the registry office 1 months notice.
Not sure if this is still the case as it was several years ago...

    Gretna Green springs to mind???

Even if you could get married in UK in 24 hrs, you would still need to put in the leg work here before hand and get paperwork etc. I doubt there is anywhere you can marry within 24 hrs and rightly so IMO.
Marriage is not something to do off the cuff.

Vegas baby... Just get a taxi from the airport to the courthouse and you can do it there and then.

If you have a valid reason, you can go before a judge and they can waive the 3 month requirement.

    What's the rush?

you still need to apply for a date to see the judge. there is no possible way in Ireland to arrive at the registry office and get married there and then - which is what the OP is asking.

3 months unless you have a reason and go to court to waive it as others have said. It may take you another couple of months to actually get the 3 month appointment!!

Also, its not as simple as signing a form anymore. You have to go and meet the registrar with copies of birth certs, details of witnesses, date of ceremony (religious or not) etc etc. And it costs 150 euro.
