Here is a link to a youtube page by a young kid
    (Andreas Varady now aged 12).
    http://www.youtube.com/user/MultiBEATA#p/u
His family are Hungarian I think but they live in Limerick and I first
heard of him from a friend of
mine who lives in Cork who had seen him busking with his dad, playing
Django style stuff at full speed.

Well there is a competition on RTE2 to get people to vote for
    guitar playing kids
    http://www.rte.ie/tv/twotube/theguitar/index.html

There are only a few in so far. The first 2 are going for the big Rock/
distortion sound but check out what Andreas plays (number 3).
It is only 1 minute or so. In the interview he described hearing
George Benson when he was 4 and deciding he wanted to play like that.
    He is half way there.
He plays So What with the full George Benson rock beat and the solo is the first section of Miles' solo on the original. It is dead good and for a 12 year old it is fantastic.

    That was fantastic!

He has a great feel for jazz. A lot of kids can develop the motor skills to play very quickly but many times, they don't really play with great feel.

I hope to hear a lot more from this great "Irish" guitarist :D

    ok, folks, voting begins this evening at 6.30;
lots of blues-ish stuff and, again, check out number 3 (Andreas Varady) for a 12 year old jazz prodigy.

Andreas is playing his first major gig next Thursday. Good line-up too.
