    Hi guys

buying a laptop over the next week or two. Just need a pretty basic laptop, need to to store photos, videos, iTunes, Microsoft office & the Internet basically. Would prefer to have a cd/DVD drive just for convienence but it's not essential. The lighter the better too. Max budget is €500.

Any opinions on Lenovo? Don't know anything about them but been looking at this one. There is a smaller 2gb one too.

    Thanks

Lenovo took over IBM's laptop business a few years ago, so should be pretty good. I use a T60 for work, and it's ok, though a bit low spec'ed for my liking.

have a shop around on Komplett.ie, in pcWorld and try pixmania.ie (at ur own risk, they fudge up orders royally sometimes...)

    Hey

thanks for the replies. Going to go ahead and by it. Fits exactly what I need it for & size/weight wise it's perfect. Had a look on a few of the other sites mentioned above & nothing seems to be available with exactly what I'm looking for for the same price.

    Thanks

i believe Ideapad is the glossy ones from lenovo :D

i'd say they are fine laptop, budget price with a fine build and more normal user orientated.they took alot advantages from thinkpad and throw them in for their own products.smart move indeed lenovo.

FYI,thinkpad is the matte screen with the scary top end Intel mobile platform but sh!tty video/image performance that built for business customer,it has the most sturdy build in the laptop industry with a reasonable price (unlike Toughbook:pac:),and still with the reputated IBM's design team behind(which going to leave lenovo next year or something :()
