I was close to joining as well until the green fees started to really drop. It just didn't make any sense after that. You have to play 50 or 60 times a year to make it financially sensible.

If money is no issue that's another story however. A pal of mine is a member, plays in weekly comps and has no problem getting a time. Cracking course all year round as well.

Small membership, around 100 players, GUI affilaited.

I know a few members and the comps usually only have about 20 playing, everyone shows up at a specific time and they make a draw.

Great golf course but there is no way in hell it's worth nearly 3k a year.

Thanks , it is a bit pricey alright but 400 of the 2900 is to be used at the bar so looking at 2500 where as most courses now seem to be around the 1500 mark so really just a grand premium for all weather golf which having been washed out again yesterday i probably would be willing to pay.

Corballis links at €375 per annum is great value

The logical way of looking at it is that it's e40 a round to pay & play, that's 62.5 rounds per year. Course condition wise it can cope with all weather but as someone who plays there quite a bit, wind and rain can make physical playing conditions unplayable quite a bit throughout winter.

Don't dismiss the e400 bar bill either, unless you live within walking distance and are local you'll find it tough enough to spend to be honest.

    My 2 cents worth.

I played there on sat and it was my first time there, after an initial mix up with the booking I thought the staff were very helpfull and did everything to make sure we got 18 in before the light went. Later in the round the weather was a quite bad mix of wind and rain and as F22 says although the course was in great condition the elements made things a little unpleasant to say the least. A really nice course though , especially the closing holes although the light was going as we got to them. At this time of year they are nearly always fully booked due to other course conditions and the short hours of daylight so for me I am not sure if its worth the jump in price from other courses around in order to play through the winter when it may be miserable and slow anyways.

Played there Saturday 3 weeks ago, course was in great nick!

Don't know about financial details but if tee times on a Saturday were an indication, it could be looking fairly positive. Absolutely wedged, think we got the last available tee time for the day there.
(Weather forecast had been good all week so there may have been higher demand than usual)

    Hi FixedPitchmark

I live in Portmarnock and walk my mutts along the dunes most days so I get a good view of the Links. It always looks in good nick and is busiest on Sat and Sundays. I 've played it a couple of times this year and its always good.

Think they do 5 day membership for 1250 also. Perhaps contact Golfgraffix as he is a member there and would best be in a position to give you the lowdown on membership , financials etc. Links Hotel and Course are in NAMA as far as I am aware !

    Dak

    My dad's a member and I play there 10/15 times a year

Actually playing it on Friday, it will be nice to get some dry ground under my feet and not be searching for balls under a million leafs !

parkland golf this time of year is depressing

Thought about it but have 3 kids so wouldn't get playing it enough to justify cost an ( divorce would be even costlier ! :) ) .

Will consider it in a few years as I live 500 yards away form it !

Was Corballis a municipal course at one stage?
If so it has too many par 3's and short par 4's and while tricky I feel there are better courses in that area at that price too.

Played it today and its in great shape, the finals of the Golf Digest events was on today so it was set up quite difficult but still scorable.

Generally it's always in great shape, I am not sold on the new 13 th but you can't please everyone

good shout, near on impossible approach shot the the new green, huge wonkey slope leading down onto the green, horrible, unfair target IMO
