can I just assume that hasn't been updated as UCC received grants on the 6 January?

I'd wait til it's up on their website. They generally have it updated once the grants arrive in. Hopefully they'll be arriving in the next week or so cos I'm skint :D

I don't go to NUIG but as many from roscommon though I thought it would be a great place to check, I'm in Queens and theres no email or board you just have to go in everyday and see, and when theres a queue and you have work to do its extremly annoying. I did my undergrad in UL and they use to pay the grant into your bank account- now thats service

You can get your grant cheque paid directly into your account in NUIG also but, afaik, it takes an extra day after the cheque arrives for the money to be lodged. I applied for that service through the bank. If you get a grant advance, a bank employee takes your cheque and lodges it for you.

Why didn't you ask on the Queens forum about this so? Get a grant advance from the bank if you're hard up, otherwise wait like everyone else.

I asked on this forum because of the volume of people from roscommon that go to NUIG, I'm the only one from roscommon getting a grant in Queens so no point asking in that forum. So it was just logical

And no such thing as a grant adavance from the banks up here. The site at NUIG seems very poor though as other colleges have theres updated yet nuig havent. NUIG students should complain why are they holding on to grant cheques and not telling ye that seems like awful bad form

Btw, for anyone who doesn't know or didn't hear about this last year, many (maybe all?) county councils have decided to only give out the grant cheques once the money from the dept of education has arrived, rather than advancing it to the students and getting it back from the dept later, which apparently lost them a lot of money. So if your cheques seem late this year compared to last this is why. You may need to take this into consideration when budgeting.

ALSO, you may or may not have noticed a cut in the second installment compared to the first-the govt cut the maintenance grant by 5% in the budget, but made it applicable immediately, which might not usually be the case. I think that's about 52 euro off both the second and third installment if you get the full grant, or 104 euro less this semester. Just a heads up.

    3rd Grant cheque?

Does anyone know roughly when this will be available? I am seriously running low, will have enough to pay rent for march but after that I'm all out.

How will the easter hols affect the cheques?

There's no point looking for the third grant cheque when the second one only came out this month, it'll be at least two months I imagine.

You still have to go down and sign for it though.
