Looking to get a bonsai tree for someone for Christmas.

    Preferably one like this

    http://www.bonsaiboy.com/catalog/bonsai-starter.html

a grow your own as such rather than just the tree itself. Anyone have any ideas on where to get them? Located in Dublin city centre for the next while (until christmas).

The likes of Woodies and Homebase often have the small Bonsais, its possible they may have the starter kits.

They are notoriously hard to grow - I killed two of them before I gave up :(

i know that for years and years there was a bonsai shop/seller in the powerscourt centre, i have a feeling he is still there... worth a try.
