Ebay seller refunds and refuses to sell

I won an item today on Ebay and paid immediately. Checked my Ebay account later only to see my payment was refuned and a request from the seller to cancel the transaction with no explanation as to why. Naturally I declined to cancel the transaction but when I hit that I did not want to cancel the transaction the case was closed with Ebay.
Needless to say I feel a bit pissed over this and left negative feedback. I emailed the seller and still no reply as to why he cancelled. What other course of action can I take against the seller. He had 100% feedback up to this. Checking back on his sale I notice he sold a few of this item and it previously went for almost double. So my guess is he was not prepared to sell at such a low cost. I am trying to find a way of complaining to Ebay but seem to be going around in circles. I do remember seeing before that I can report him for non performing seller or something like that but cant seem to find it. Any ideas please

how did you pay? paypal? is your address confirmed, usually whenur refunded like that either the item is already sold or your transaction looked dodgy, i.e an unconfirmed address.. bad form on destroying his feed back, takes a lot of work i dont think u realsise how much..

Well if the seller wanted to ensure a price for his item he should have put a reserve on it. I agree that building positive feedback is hard work for a seller but if he had communicated with the buyer perhaps it could have been avoided. I buy and sell on eBay and have been fortunate with feedback (only one negative item in seven years and that was from an idiot who then realised it was his fault) but I am loathe to leave negative feedback until every avenue has been exhausted. Instant knee jerk reaction is the curse of the internet. :)

Yeah I paid with paypal. Nothing wrong from my end as I have over 270 purchases and as regards to negative feedback I have only ever had to leave one before this, and in that case the seller wanted more money for shipping after the sale had closed. took me a month to get my money back that time.

I still have not heard back from the seller, it would not have cost him anything to give me an explanation. It will be interesting to see if he lists it up for sale again in the near future as he has sold a few of these already.

And the seller would have refunded if the buyer had paid way to much for the item, not very likely?

Seller deserved negative feedback and for a change got it.

I agree that it is hard work but the key is good communication and the seller should not have pulled the auction because he forgot to set the reserve.

What did he think was going to happen?

I'd love to know how you can confirm an Irish address?

I'd also love to ban sellers that add the clause "Reserve the right to withdraw item for sale as for sale elsewhere" as all it really means is if I don't get enough for it here I won't be selling.

We got rid of that confirmed address crap, you can ship anywhere now as a seller.

Not much you can do in this case, just negative fb and move on.

You obviously know what you're talking about but its not that clear when you put it on paper (to me anyway ;) )

    Seller ship anywhere? yes

But I was refering to buyers as the OP is a buyer and afaik you can't have a confirmed eBay address if you live in Ireland (as buyer or seller)?

Yeah but it will still show up as eligble for seller protection even though the address is unconfirmed.

Paypal have stated me to many times you've no protection if you send to an unconfirmed address. Can you provide a link to the change in rules.

No problem sending to a unconfirmed address but it's at the sellers risk.
