Think this is the article. Interesting that it's in the "Driving" section along with the car reviews and Jeremy Clarkson...

Interesting article. Haven lived in London for a few years (not as a cyclist, mind:eek:), they are generally a lot more aggressive on the roads. Seems to be a real cyclist / motorist civil war breaking out over there.

This looks like one of the videos they referred to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLzGj10fg2g

It's one thing putting yourself at risk and coming a cropper from a bus / car / van breaking a red light or on the wrong side of the road, but many pedestrians here put at risk as well. Interested to think what people think.

tell you the truth if riders are doing that then at some point th police will clamp down on cyclists because its just crazy, not suprisng taxi drivers would get pi**ed off when you see them rlj at the end.
as the article said the police in cambridge were issuing on the spot fines for cycling on the pavement etc. not suprised really, where you have heavy traffic/cyclist/ pedestrian areas you cant do what you want.

Looks like parkour for cyclists or something else stupid. Still if I cycled to a power metal soundtrack who knows what would happen....:pac:

The same officer — who wished to remain anonymous — confessed he had, on occasion, been tempted to stick out a firm elbow as one or another particularly speedy two-wheeler had zipped by too close.

Why not pull him over and charge him with something? Take the bike off him?

I have seen a good bit of cycling on the footpath recently. I can't understand it, there is no need for it. I think El Tonto might have said this a while ago, or something to similar effect: If you are on the footpath because you can't manage cycling on the road, you shouldn't be on a bike.

In his Times column, Parris suggested all cyclists should be decapitated with piano-wire strung up across the road, and Martin boasted halfway through a car review in the Daily Mail of forcing a group of country-lane riders into a hedge. It took just three days and vocal opposition from thousands of cyclists, right up to Olympian Bradley Wiggins and Tour de France sprint king Robbie McEwen, for Martin to issue a grovelling apology.

In his next column, Parris apologised. “It was meant humorously but so many cyclists have taken it seriously that I misjudged. I'm sorry.”
US & THEM alive and well. Its bizarre that they presume only people who use bicycles had an issue with the statements/stories. I am not a wheelchair user but if somebody said they should all be decapitated or run into ditches I would not presume that only wheelchair users would complain about it.
