    Hi,

My friend is moving to Ireland in April and wants to know about the chances of her getting the dole here if she can't find work. She is from Belfast but has been living in France for the past 6 years. Can people from Northern Ireland claim the dole in the Republic?

Wouldnt have thought so but could be wrong.

EDIT: Just thinking about it and I presume they could. But if they just arrive here for the first time I could hardly see them been given automatic dole right off the boat so to put it.

Yup. You get bonus money if you can swing some American welfare cheques too.

I wouldn't think so but try the Social Welfare forum.
