    Hi Folks,

I have a small project going on at the moment and I'd like to offer it to like minded DJ's. I'm looking for a few DJ's in the Dublin / UCD area.

The following criteria apply (But I amn't too strict! :pac:)
    • Ability to play at least a 2 hour set
    • Interest in common pop / charts but also more specialist dance. (Quick Clarification: Not a chart DJ but the ability to appeal to a wide and select audience to suit an event)
    • Aged between in and around 18 / 20 (Clarification: My age group)
    • Be able to use CDJ's and/or Laptops. If you are a laptop DJ I'll need to see evidence of basic beat matching ability. (Clarification: Not a witchhunt! :) Just a quick show that you have the basics)
    • Good deck style and set choice
    • Be able to play to a crowd - Aged 16 to 25
    • Ability to work as a team and a firm commitment to a team project (Clarification: Think its fair enough. I'd like to build a long term team)
    • Ability to travel in / to / from / around the Dublin Area on a regular basis

    What do you get?
    • Increased opportunity to share a gig and get gigs. I amn't a promoter but we have venues lined up.
    • Share knowledge and equipment
    • Practice beyond the bedroom :)

I'm looking for about 3 Dj's in total to join myself and a friend. We're both DJ's. I'm keeping a lid on the exact idea for the moment but it will be interesting I can assure you.

So if your interested feel free to PM or reply with a demo mix (At least 30mins long if you can) I'll reply to everyone and its open to anyone who reasonably qualifies in to the above.

    Any questions, please ask.

    ironclaw.

Not for me for a good while yet.

But - do you go to UCD?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,004 ✭✭✭ironclaw

Yes, I'm in UCD but going to UCD isn't a requirement. It's just a handy place for meeting etc.

Whenever I get the time I'll do you a mix, is this an urgent thing or more long term?

After the LC I'd be very interested. Transport is my main limitation. If you're still scouting when I'm free I'll give you a PM.

    looking for about 3 Dj's?

jesus, if jedward had a triplet, you could call yourself louis walsh

Thanks Tack.... Just to be clear, I dont want chart DJ's. I need DJ's that can adapt and perform in the dance genre. I'll skip the jedward remark.

There isn't a time limit on this at the moment. When we find what we're looking for I suppose that would be the deadline.

Why? Anyone I know (including myself and Richie Hawtin to name two) who uses laptops does so because the software auto-beatmatches or they can do a beatmap pre-set, freeing them up to do other things during the actual set itself.

Why don't you get onto the UCD DJ-Soc - plenty of lads there willing to play commercial tripe for cash; I can give you a few names if you explain for what, most of them would have had weekend residencies in country nightclubs or the likes of Wax/Button Factory in Dublin.

I'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess that you're running Under-18s discos in the now heavily reduced hotel conference room game?

Ok, the whole beatmatch thing is to try to find people who can DJ if a laptop breaks down. It also shows proof that they have the basic skills. When I mean prove I mean one or two songs. And thats it. It won't be a witchhunt :)

I am a member of DJ SOC. And I have no interest in commercial tripe etc either. Nor must any of the DJ's I'm looking for. I need a balance between commericial (to appeal to the wide audience) and less commericial dance (for the select audience)

Nope. That isn't it in the slightest. All events will be over 18 for the foreseeable future.

I'd ask if people wish to be negative to hold there keyboards a tad. This thread has already gone very off thread. Any questions pertaining to the first post I'll answer and clarify.

    Thanks to all so far,

    ironclaw

Why, may I ask, are you keeping a lid on the idea? Would it not be better to explain it so the right people know to get in contact with you?

If your genuine I'd like to hear from you. By all means point me in the direction of any mixes etc you have.

If people really want to know what I'm up to then send me a mix / demo. Its under wraps purely because I want people who are interested in music not money. This will idea will pay (And very well) but only for those genuinely interested.

Please tell me you're not the one behind the lamentable "I love techno preparty" and "sensation white preparty" with the free white jumpsuit for every raver.

Have never been more ashamed to go to UCD

I can assure you I have nothing to do with DJ Soc. In fact I'm a member in name only as they never put me on their mailing list.

Then I suppose it brings back an earlier point, get active in the DJsoc, and you might find people in and around the area you're looking for.

(and if you could stop them putting on nights with a free white jumpsuit for every raver I'd greatly appreciate it)
