How well can you take a loss?

I sometimes have a fierce temper when things go wrong. Normally I'm upset with myself for making such a stupid decision or bet.

I very rarely blame the jockey or the keeper or whatever because its only yourself you have to blame. You can blame someone else when its clearly their fault of course.

Like today, my internet connection failed just when I went to lay off my bet on Don't Push It at Warwick. It was 3 strides before the fence he blundered at and so I was left with a dud bet. I was pissed to say the least.

Anyone else have a temper like this? Curious to know..

I`ve seen a guy on more than one occasion box the tellys in the bookie shop, kick bins over, throw pens at the screens and turn green with anger. Its actually quite relieving to see this as its pretty funny to watch.:)

Personally i just bottle it up, take the hit on the chin to matter how big the loss/mistake. I reckon i`m bottling it up and in years to come will turn postal on Paddy Power or boylesports or one of the big firms and leave a trail of destruction in my wake after losing my shirt on some 1/2 fav in a 2 horse race :D

Not a serious gambler by any means but when I'm putting on a bet I expect it to lose and if it wins it's a bonus. Bad beats in online poker sicken my sh1t though. Especially if your aces get busted on the river by a Jack 8 2 pair when you are called all in preflop.

This would be the only time i might get a bit annoyed because you always think you should have played that hand better. I did a 7 team accumilator yestesday on tuesday after a nice win and i picked Liverpool ahead of Manutd because it looked like Torres was going to be back but with Liverpool drawing and West brom scoring in the 90minute i would have won BIG if i picked Manutd but that lasted all but as Derby scored in injury time to make that game 2-2 so i soon cooled down :). Hindsight is a wonderful thing and we always think we should have this or that.

when people call massive raises with junk in poker and im sitting there
with aces or kings...that drives me bananas
ive mellowed a bit with the betting tho
I used to go cracked asking myself why i did this and that
and why i went chasing in the past
Now, I bet small, lose small, win small tho the small
bets do add up over a month
I dont ever chase anymore though
I always think now that there's always next weekend

I only bet what I can afford to loose (and I have lost a lot over the last few months)

in the last week alone lost €750 ....time to stop me thinks. (stoopid addiction)

will have to take up running or something.... its boredom gambling is my vice.....sitting at home - game on tv - ..... throw a couple of quid on that .... I reckon they'll get a second ....etc etc

If I had a cat to kick this afternoon I would have booted it a few yards alright, not so much cos all todays PW picks were loosers but because I deliberatly avoided backing them yesterday so peed off am I with the hit rate. That Joncol won the big race, my sister knows "the connections" well, made it worse somehow.

Had a free bet yesterday so put it on the PW tip in Ireland due to Toms high success rate on Irish racing. Of course it lost and his other two won. Bloody annoying even tho it cost me nuttin!

Had a 6 team 15/1 accumulator at the weekend & Derby scored deep in injury time after West Brom had already taken the lead in injury time,it's fair to say i wasn't best pleased but somehow managed to keep my cool, still freaking though  Poker brings out my temper the worst especially when my big hands get cracked!!!

ive had some stinkers the last few months like that h/t f/t bet i posted in the football tips thread, was 90/1 or something and all i needed was bayern to win h/t f/t and they drew h/t and won f/t, close but no cigar, city a few weeks back let me down in a 50/1 accum, conceding in the last 3 mins, same day forrest conceded last kick of the game to let me down for a 20/1 accum lol

following week i got a 12/1 accum up and had 4 winners in the racing, swings and roundabouts.

i feel shattered if the horse comes second in a close race but other than that i dont mind

I'll never forget the day i got two tips. One horse was 10s and the other was 8s AFAIR. I had intended on doing two 20 euro singles and a 10 euro double. Laziness got the better of me and hoped both would come nowhere. Both of them won. That was the angriest i've ever been even though i didnt lose a penny. Felt like a major loss though. Still to this day when i think about it i get annoyed at myself.

its such a bad feeling when you loose out on something you are pretty sure of! that pricewise horse yesterday for example, you had your hopes up so high until you say russian flag flying home! I think that joinging betfair is a good way to keep the anger down, it means that you can lay off big bets if you have to! yesterday for example i had alot of money from an accum going onto spurs, they went 2 -0 so i layed them at ridiculously low odds. Still sick that they couldnt win it but it makes loosing that bit sweeter!!

after a loss i remain calm, walk out to the garden and choke as many rabbits as i can catch.i find that helps.

lol i used to do that but when the horses won since i layed at like 1.20-1.30 i felt i was losing some money at the end and as time went passed it would add up.

i only do it when i really feel that the horse is running on empty or that its falsely still on the bridle and doesnt have much to give. I like doing accums with favourits and the 3 place betting on PP aswell and if i have big sums running onto the last horse Ill generally lay it off.

Losing is all in the game. Had a bad result saturday night. Backed a college football team, led 31-10 but lost 45-44. No one died and the world did not stop turning.

Its a heat of the moment thing though. Obviously, what you say is true. If anyone thought otherwise they ought to be tied to a bed in a padded room.

Not like backing Man City, 7 draws and then beat Arsenal and Chelsea.
