Ok, finally getting my ultimate holiday with my wonderful bf!

We are going to fly into Rome for the last week of Feb/1st week of March.

The first day is shot as we don't arrive until 8pm, staying until Monday. Then Monday going to Florence. Now here's my problem, he mentioned Venice as a day trip. Originally my plan was to go back to Rome after spending the day at Pisa (on Wed). We don't fly out until late on Thurs therefore catching anything we might have missed.

Basically, which would you do? Pisa or Venice? Any thoughts?? I just don't want to overdo it ;)

Thanks a mil for your input!!

Personally, I would do Venice over Pisa. There is just a lot more to see there. The whole town is one big tourist attraction. In Pisa, there is the leaning tower and not much else. As you are going way before the tourist season, Venice should also not be overrun with tourists.

Just concerned that aqaua alta may happen and that would not make for a very fun time.

Sure that may happen. But if you leave Venice to see some time in the future, it might get even worse...

Venice over Pisa. Not a lot in Pisa in my experience outside of the Tower and Duomo. Venice would be good at that time of year (i.e. not too crowded). It is however a long way from Florence so a day trip might not be a runner.

I also think its a long enough train journey from Pisa to Rome.

You dont have a huge amount of time (I think) so better not to spend it all travelling and not enjoying the planned visits. Siena is a nice spot and not too far from Florence.
