I was thinking of purchasing a starter electronics kit to mess around with circuits and the like, and Im seeking a bit of guidance!

Basically the first one I saw was this: http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/electronic/b80b/ It seems pretty good in that is targeted at utter n00bs to electronics with a manual and everything. It uses a breadboard and has components. However I dont know if the price is reasonable (55 euro inc shipping).

Then I did a bit of Googling and came upon this kind of thing: http://www.vakits.com/product_info.php?products_id=1040 However I dont know if a total n00b would be able to get started with anything like that.

So any advice for good DIY starter kits?

    :)

Go with the first one - or get all the components (and more) for €20 from Radionics and google for beginner circuits.

    Op-Amps are not for beginners.

    edit:

    Farnell is better:
This breadboard would do fine: 1472857 €6.68 (+VAT)
    This one is better: 1472851 €14.01 (+VAT)

And they have a massive selection of LEDs, Push-buttons, Voltage regulators, diodes, sensors, and every other thing you would need to get started.

    Hi there
I mess around with electronics, building circuits and the like if you want some simple circuits to build and they are reassembly cheep Maplins in Jervis St or Blanchardstown, and Peats for Parts in Parnell St do some nice
hobby kits, but there is soldering involved,if you don't know how to solder go for the bread board circuits,in saying that there is no big mystery in soldering its the heat that is the killer of components and another thing to keep in mind DON'T touch IC chips with your hands they come wrapped in foil or the pins are pushed into a rubber sponge they are easily blown by the static witch is in your body get an earth strap for your wrist or simply touch some metal before you handle them.im no expert but if i can help just pm me.
