Curious issue with Dell order

I ordered a Studio 17 last Monday for €1000. I got a confirmation email and the money was taken from my account.

On Wednesday I discovered I had forgotten to make the purchase through pigsback. I could not cancel because it was after 6pm and the offer was ending that day so I made a second order of the same laptop this time through pigsback.

The next morning I rang Dell and cancelled the first order. They said there was no problem and when I checked my banking later that day I was delighted to see the money refunded so quickly.

But I'm just after checking my account again tonight and it seems the money for the second order has been refunded as well. But the order status is still "work in progress".

Does this mean I'll probably get a cancellation email from them on Monday? I don't know what to do. I don't like having so much cash in my current account. However if I move it to a savings account and they somehow look for the charge again they won't be able to get it and I might not get the laptop.

Phew long post but does anyone have any idea what might be going on? I'll have to wait till Monday to contact them

Kind of. I gave them the order number for the one I wanted to cancel. I confirmed with the rep whether the second order was ok and she said it was. I just checked the Dell website and it says your credit card won't be charged until the order enters delivery stage. Don't know whether it's the same for a debit card. But why take the money initially, return and then take it again? Sounds bad.....

Dell are notorious for Order messups. I know a friend who got a 2nd PC (they delievered the order twice) 3 years later and they still did not contact her.
