You could earn a black belt in an hour. Will it mean anything? No.

Instead of judging what colour belt you get over a period of time, a martial artist should judge their skill level.

The real question is, after a weekend's training could I hold my own against someone with 5 or 6 years training (real black belt level) in the ring, in any style?

    Probably not.

Are you sure it isn't an instructor course, not the entire criteria for becomming a BB?

Why bother with the course? You can buy a black belt in a martial arts shop for a fiver.

Yea but they're shit, your better off ordering a nice stiff Mizuno belt online, a little more expensive but hey dammit you've spent your weekend earning it!.

Experienced martial artists seem to be able to readily become instructors in other martial arts but that is due to years of practice in memorising and excecuting forms and techniques.

Personally I always think an experienced dancer could get a blackbelt over a weekend, but possibly would not be the best fighter.

If you do take one of these courses please put a disclaimer in your advertisements to let your potential students know you have 2 days martial arts experience, I am sure they will be beating down the door to train with you ;)

I think this only applies if the two styles of martial arts are very very similar. For example, I wouldn't expect an experienced Wushu guy to be able to instruct bjj after two days

This is a stupid question! You may get a nice new black belt but no experience.
And there are alot of Black Belts out there who have trained for years in a style say twice a week but when it kicks off on the Street they cant fight Sleep!!

If you want to swim get in the water!

I fully agree and even then 2 days:eek: would be pushing even the most dedicated and skilled far past their limits.

Best to stick to the online tutorials and webcam gradings, I reckon they would be a guarantee of fast advancement.

i have seen people become instructors fairly quickly, have a black belt in no time and then they cant even lift there leg to chest hight.

to see them training younger people and trying to demonstrate say front kick or side kick.

but on the other side they could be great dealing with kids.:)

Why would you want to kick someone in the chest?

Two days seems abit long. Is there some course I can do where I can get in in 1, or maybe a couple half days?

Ahh, Boston, I believe my course is just for you, There is no actual contact time required, simply send me a letter, stating your previous ma experience, with supporting documentation (a cheque for €150 usually covers this requirement) and as soon as your documentation lodges in my account, I will send you a cert indicating that you now hold 17th Dan is Clet-jitsu, along with your black belt and lifetime membership card

For a small one time fee of €100, you can also be inducted into my Grand Soke International Martial Arts Hall of Fame*

*this hall of fame is Internationally recognised by the WCF (World Clet-jitsu Federation)

Interesting. Would it be possible for me to simply send you my back account details and login password so that you could remove the money yourself. Thus making this a truely hassle free service?

i didnt state that it was for a kick to the chest.

i ment for the likes of say an axe kick, and the black belt instructor only being able to kick to around the hight of his chest.

    you know what i mean.
