Me&My girlfriend are both between 15-16 so underage.

Condom Broke - Need no patronizing advice Ive read and heard it all already,

We need to get a morning after pill as soon as possible what are the ways to go about getting it, she doesn't want her parents to know and isnt inclined to allowing me to get a freind to get it for us,

Will it be difficult to get to a open GP on the weekend will need it definitely before Monday but obviously as goes with emergency contraception sooner the better, can caredocs supply this service confidentially.

How much really money isnt a issue but id like to know.

is there a family planning clinic in your area? they usually stay open until early afternoons on a Saturday if you are lucky. Have a look in the phonebook for one and ring first thing int he morning. Tell them you need the morning after pill as soon as possible and they should fit you in. If you ask for an appointment without explaining your situation they may say they are full. Explain that you need it as soon as possible and they should fit you in.

If there is none open, I would either suggest giving westdoc or caredoc or what ever service is available and just ask them for some advice on where to get it. They may suggest you head into your local hospital to speak to a doctor there although this will cost significantly more as they may charge your for an a&e appointment.

The actually Morning After Pill itself costs around 15 euro, and an appointment at a family planning clinic is around 40 euros. However a trip into a&e will cost you anything up to 80....

Best of luck with it. And try and be more careful next time. Perhaps your girlfriend should consider some sort of birth control method like the contraceptive pill.

look up the phonebook, you need a prescription to get it from a pharmacist, a family planing clinic is your best bet, there should be one in kilkenny city/thomas town (im guessing your from KK), dont know how likely they are to be open on sundays, and a condom breaking doesnt really mean she is pregnant and be careful next time.

can she get the pill for future? i mean if your going to play with fire, she should really be on the pill. im sure her parents would rather she went on the pill rather then rely on condoms. i would never rely just on condoms as in your case it broke.

they will ask her age when she goes to get the morning after pill. ive gone to get it about 4 times now and they always ask if im over the legal age. i also had to show ID, even thou i was between 22 and 28 when taking it. so i think there might be some problems there? i think its to make sure that she wasn't forced into underage sex. so just be prepared for that too.

I guess we'll go to a family planing clinic advice much appreciated. Guess ill go find a phone book now,
I could get a freind to get it for me as he is over 18 but saying that he is a guy doubt they would give it to a male over 18?

Hi OP. Your girlfriend will need to a visit a GP (any GP will suffice, though she might be more comfortable speaking to a lady doc?) She may have to explain to the GP what happened and also perhaps some of her medical details (most likely relating to sexual health). The GP can then write her a prescription, which your girlfriend or you can pick up from any pharmacy.

Likely cost = GP: approx 40-50e. Prescription = approx 15-20e

You might already know this but it's iimportant that ye act on this immediately as the morning after pill may only be taken within a 72 hour time frame after the incident.

Best of luck (and maybe sort out somethin more reliable for the long term ;))

PS: Imported Guy -babynames.com? Not funny and not necessary

    Thanks, two further questions,

    A) Think there would be an issue with me going with her, I think she would feel more comfortable.

    B) Age 15-16 A problem?

I think that it would be a good thing but don't be surprised if you are asked to step out at one stage so the dr can question her alone.
    B) Age 15-16 A problem?

Dr have to treat the patient in front of them.
Once you are 16 you can see a dr with out parental consent being needed.
If the dr thinks she is a minor at risk they will have to consider taking further steps.

Chances are you will both get a talk on reproductive choice and contraception from the dr which is not a bad thing at all.

    try this number:

    1850 334 999

its the Caredoc for for carlow/kilkenny. Essentially an out of hours/emergency GP. There are a few in the area. Usually out of hours. Charge more for the priviilege. At least they can give you professional advice. Good luck. I think this is the best place to start. If you r are in kk city, the caredoc is on the outskirts so easy to find.

By having someone over the age of 18 going in to get it for you, you are risking the health and well being of your girlfriend. Your girlfriend needs to be assesed to make sure the morning after pill wont make her ill. She also needs to know any side effects etc of the pill.

Usually when going to a family planning clinic they will make the patient take the pill in front of the health care worker.

Ok I guess I best inform ye of what happened as there is a severe lack of definitive information on this topic.

Saturday morning called a caredoc explained the situation.
They asked for my girlfreinds number, I talked with my girlfreind about it (as she was quite upset) she was ok with it, gave them her number they arranged an apointment for around one pm.
We both went in got a very small talk on contraception. She was assesed for health risks, explained how the drug worked. We were given a perscription for the pill and the morning after pill.

Thanks for the support and help it was much appreciated.
