Help! What's the seasoning on Eddie Rockets chips. It's driving me mad! Maybe if I didn't look so cool smoking I'd have taste buds left alive!

Dunno about their chips but I'm pretty sure their cheese is made out of plastic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,704 ✭✭✭Mr.David

Ya I think its just paprika too.

I always found their chips a bit of a fail tbh in comparison with the burgers.

I agree. I pass the one on Wexford/Camden St most days and i've never seen more than a couple people in it.

Mc donalds double cheeseburger (€2) beats eddie rocket cheez pleeze (€7) any day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

It's paprika alright. Really makes about a tiny portion of chips worth a fiver.

I dunno how that place stays open to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,704 ✭✭✭Mr.David

Take a pinch of pre celtic tiger broken dreams. Grind in a pestle and mortar, sprinkle on your chips et voila.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,102 ✭✭✭RossFixxxed

My burger had bacon, smoked cheese, onion rings, pickle, chutney and a big ground beef burger... :) MMMMMMM I agree it's expensive but I'm treating myself to a nice night in with the OH.

even if you bought two and put them together to make it the same size you still up €3

only good thing in eddies is the malts and even then only the o'connell street one is decent

The one in dubdrum had a deal few weeks ago, mite still be going on.
Any burger bar the double burger, chips and a drink or shake/malt all for a tenner...

    Decent enough offer!

Their chips with melted cheese has to be the most disappointing thing I've ever had... Can that stuff even be classified as cheese??

They actually get that stuff in as powder and add water to it.

God that's weird. I was actually thinking this to myself earlier today. Paprika doesn't really taste like Eddie Rockets chips, but I'd have to try it.

I concur. Tis been a few years since I had it though.

I call it "Empty Pockets" as it is a bit expensive, but I have to say I do like the food there.

The Chicken Caesar Salad is nice and with a cup of tea costs around 10.25.

It's paprika on their chips, probably the smoked variety (there are three types of paprika; smoked, sweet and spicy). Maybe try cooking with all three types until you find the one you like. Then bring them to my house.

    Eddie Shockers more like.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen ftw, only €5 for a top quality burger in Temple Bar b4 5pm every day.

The prices are shocking, but they are nicer than most fast food places.
Can't beat a kebab from Iskanders or Zaytoon though.
(I heard Iskanders burnt down, is this true?)

Never been to this place of imfamosity but paprika is what everyone puts on twisty/curly fries so if they taste like that, im guessing thats what it is

eddie rockets are a bit like marlboro lights, ie; makes irish people feel better about themselves for not opting for McD's or Johnny Blues whilst telling themselves they wont get heart disease / cancer.

Eddie Rockets is a rip off, but you just can't beat their burger sauce... mmmmmmmmm:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,828 ✭✭✭ven0m

For those who remember the product from the 80's, the seasoning on Eddie's fries is actually an updated form of 'Chip-Mate', which was a combo of paprika, salt & vinegar crystals.

I have stuff from The Spice Shop (www.thespiceshop.co.uk) always have it on me chips =)

The ingredients to it are as follows:

    - ground celery seeds
    - paprika
    - caraway pepper
    - a hint of chili
    - sea salt

It's just mayonase and American mustard mixed.

    I for one love Eddie's.

The music is cool and the food is always very hot and yummy. Love the chilli fries and chocolate malts.
+1 for the chicken caesar salad too- tasty!
Staff are usually in good form.

And I like that u can sit down in the little booths but it's not overly formal. Perfect for a date imo. (for teenagers or pre-cinema munchies)
The only other dining alternative is a candlelit dinner which can be too much or a sh1tty BK/Mc Donalds where u eat your food and GTFO. Eddie's is inbetween these two extremes!
prices worth it, well in my experience(s) of the place anyway!
