    I was playing MW2 online and I noticed that when I leveled up and it didn't play the sound it usually does, and when the game finished it froze. The standby button wouldn't restart it so I powered it off and on at the back.

    When it restarted it wouldn't read any of my games, or a standard DVD. I tried a file system restore but didn't fix anything.

    It's not under warranty any more, as it's a 40Gb 2007 model, so it looks like I'll have to fork out quite a bit for this.

    Has anyone here else had any similar experiences, and what did they find to be the best course of action?

    Holding EJECT button for about 12-15 seconds apparently resets the drive. Don't know if it helps, but it's worth a shot.

    dunk it in ice cold water and when it heatens up feed it a small child.

    it'll be happy with your sacrificial offer and start to read games again.

    I think MW:2 could be killing our ps3s:( I've heard a lot of stories and myself playing mw and the ps3 breaking:mad:

    same happened to mine,you have a few chioices sell it as it is for about 80-100 quid,get it repaired by sony for 150 plus postage and will be take over a month,or repair ireland in bray will fix it for 100 plus postage and take about a week to 2 weeks,or try repace the blu ray lens youself,personally id send it to repair ireland.a lot of people seem to be having this prob and sony dont want to know,mine was working perfect up untill last update then it froze and after been reset wouldnt read games dvds or cds
