Pot KILLS YOU

I must be evil or something, or I just have a very dark sense of humour; while I feel awful about the outcome, theres something altogether amusing about the whole ordeal.
A Florida father is looking at a long and uncomfortable tour of the justice system after getting high, gaming all night, and then falling asleep on his 7-month-old daughter, suffocating her in the process. Cops in Sunrise, Fla. say the the father, Emanuel Lawrence, 30, was responsible for looking after the girl while her mother was at work. Unfortunately, after finishing a marathon game session at 6 a.m. he lay her on the bed beside him, rolled over in his sleep, and bad things commenced thereafter. Authorities accuse Lawrence of taking the baby to her crib and claiming she died in her sleep there to cover up the crime.
The police report says he smoked weed the previous afternoon which, if that lasts long enough to make a man oblivious to smothering his own daughter more than 12 hours later, holy cow. But it's not like "No, really, I was just tired from playing video games," is going to make him more sympathetic.
He's looking at aggravated manslaughter charges. It's all very sad.

Now I assume a toxicology report is forthcoming. The Police report says he smoked that afternoon but for all we know really happen the lad was completely ****faced and exhausted from marathon gaming.

Blame the weed, blame the video games but dont blame the man himself. FFS.

I feel sorry for him but i also think he's a complete gob****e. You're looking after your kid, why would you smoke a load of weed while doing that?

Aggravated Manslaughter is a ridiculous charge to bring against him, surely it should be Child Neglect Causing Death

Also if your child is that young, surely at some point during your marathon gaming session she required some attention in that space in time?

Sounds like a tosser. Weed does not make you oblivious to sleeping on top of things other then a mattress. I doubt it helped him because he was exhausted in the first place.

Lots of people bring the kid into the bed and 7 months isn't quite newborn. Sometimes the child is sick or teething and wont sleep without the comfort or security of being beside their parents. However, very few people are so bolloxed that they roll onto the child and kill it. The man has suffered a terrible loss but ya, he's a world class idiot.

I don't really see what is so "altogether amusing about the whole ordeal".

Not even from a moralistic point of view, I have a fairly twisted sense of humour myself at times! But I just don't see how it's funny ... if the man's use of pot had led to his own death in some ironic Darwinian fashion, then yeah, maybe!

But you saying that this is funny, is like posting a thread entitled "Alcohol KILLS YOU" and then linking to a thread where a drunk driver killed someone. Nothing all that ironic or amusing about it, unless you have a very crude, simple sense of humour.

    It's just a tragic accident.
There's nothing ironic or anyway funny about it.

It reminds me of a story about a fella my cousin knew in England.
Up to this point in his life he'd avoided using drugs.
He bought a Playstation and got seriously addicted to it, staying up all night playing it.
Obviously he was in bits going to work and struggling to stay awake.
He started taking speed at work to stay awake.
    Couple of months pass.
He's driving down the road one day like a zombie and ploughed into a Mother and daughter who were out for a walk,
    killing them both.

A report from the British Medical Journal says most cot deaths are attributed to babies sleeping with parents http://www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/319/7223/1457.

    No re-spawns IRL unfortunately

Typical yanks thought going all out against drugs and videos games instead of blaming the idiot (probably republican too) that did those things.
