This needs a thread of its own!! This must be most annoying plot-devices that has ever been used in Lost..... and its the MOST used device its soooo annoying!! Seriously suppose to believe that Locke and Kate have specific skills in tracking and honed it over years of practice and know all the signs and counter-signs so well!!

Seriously. Cop the boat!

Ya, you're right. The tracking thing is just waaaaay too far fetched.

This might be better suited to the whine thread tbh.

It's just one of those clichéd tv plot devices. It annoys me too. But the show - and most shows for that matter - is full of them. It's an island and the characters don't have mobile phones to stay in contact with each other. Smoke signals take up too much screen-time, so it's easier to just have Locke or Kate say "hey, I can i see some tracks, follow me!". It's easy to overlook in the beginning but after 5 seasons it does get a bit tiresome alright.

no your right because this is from a personal character development, which has nothing to do with the island or any of the strange happenings on it.

its akin to in a movie(ill say 2012 cause it was rubbish) a minor character being able to fly a huge boeing 747 even though only has had 1 flight lesson in a single engine airplane...

yea I can accept all the other stuff, and your right it does make much more sense than any other way of finding people or communicating.
i recently done a rewatch of all 5 seasons started the start of Nov... and my god does it start to get onr your nerves.

also little aggrieved with the time it takes them to travel form one spot on the island to another, one show it might take couple of hours to get somewhere then next it takes 2days....

also all the maps we've seen are madle almost child like drawings with no scale or features. (altho ild say this is on purpose, as lindelof said, the island its own character and maybe shifts and changes shape itself)

also the 2nd island will be more in season 6 ild say.
