Van buying advise please

I wrecked my beloved opel combo van(01) trying to pass a flood a few weeks ago. I need to get a new one fairly soon but the budget won't be much. What in your opinion would be the most reliable van i could pick up for 2500 to 3000? Will i save much by waiting til new year? I can manage over the xmas but will need to buy…

I wrecked my beloved opel combo van(01) trying to pass a flood a few weeks ago. I need to get a new one fairly soon but the budget won't be much. Kangoos are great value for the money. A well minded one will last for years.

I respectfully disagree.

They are better than their cousins (Berlingo & Partner) but are still too soft for my liking.

The newer Combo is a nice van. There is a common diesel issue with them, though I can't remember what it is exactly.

You could find a new shape caddy that has had the DMF replaced with the solid fly wheel.

I like the Connect. I'm not sureif they suffer with the starter/flywheel issues of their bigger brother though

Re the Kangoo van I'd be inclined to agree. My first transport was a MK1 Renault Megavan and it was bloody heartache, an awful heap of junk altogether. Aside from never ending problems and never running particularly well it was very tinny and rattly. Anthing I've drove since has being in a different league not that I've drove what you would class as a top notch motors in my day at any stage.

I'd be surprised if you were to find a new shape caddy within the OP's budget though but perhaps I'm wrong on that. Older shape caddy might be worth a punt or a corolla with a toyota engine, but load capacity might not be adequate here.
