how do you see yourself in your later life?

I was randomly thinking about this on the way to work the other day. What will you look like? For some reason I imagine myself with a long grey beard. Somewhat of a Ronnie Drew type figure... bit eccentric... playing some music and generally enjoying life. :)

I'm gonna start smoking cigars and drinking (more) whiskey, hopefully dying of a massive, but quick heart attack before i get too old, no way am i getting to the stage where i have to rely on other people to drive me around or put me in a home, im living my last years on my terms, like my grandfather, lived on his own for years after my grandmother died, went for walks every day, used to take his old motorbike out for drives down to the coast all the time, used to head off on his own fishing without having the need to tell people where he was going, a proper mans man even in his early 70s, died last year, heart attack in his sleep

I'll work really hard on being a good musician, then 27 club. \o/

Seriously though, do not want to live extremely long. Retirement seems like the single most depressing thing one could ever go through.

Appearance wise I'd say I'm gonna be very "interesting" looking, career wise I have no clue, always end up doing something out of the ordinary, so no point even trying to guess :) Hopefully I will be wise and helpful, with a bit of insanity thrown in for good measure

It depends what your attitude is -I know one guy who graduated from trinity at almost 80.

You also build baggage kids and dogs who might want you to stick around.

Or you could become a blues singer in which case old is good.

I'm not sure I want to live to whatever age I am capable of living...I don't want to end up where I can't take care of myself.

J 16:1 - dont be so fatalistic/pessimistic. When you were a baby , toddler and child you couldnt look after yourself and things worked out. In mans history medicine has never been so advanced. So Im afraid we are probably stuck with ya:rolleyes:

Well, my parents knew what they were getting into when they had a baby (me). I want to maintain an independent and healthy life as far as I can, but don't want to relinquish any the basic things that I have been able to do for the last while.

Give up drinking, smoking and eat your greens J

    heart attack in his sleep
All except the last bit. I wouldn't be sleeping. I'd be smoking 'n shagging, and the hooker wouldn't know if I was coming or going

    =-=

Meh. If the technology is there, go full cyborg and join the army at 75? :D
