Ive recently begun to suffer back pain while out on the bike and it lasts for a couple of days afterwards. Saddle height is correct according to my LBS so im looking for the name of somebody who can size me properly for my bikes. Im in Waterford so preferably someone in the south east if possible. But i will travel if i have to as its gettin me down at this point. Any advise out there? Thanks for any replies in advance.

Was looking into this a few weeks ago and decided I am going to try Irishfit. Complete assesment by a physio and dynamic bike fit-70 euros. Bargain I think. Will be going myself in new year.I know its Dublin but I am in Cork and think its worth the trip.

Was just in with Leo in irish fit yesterday. Nice guy and really took his time over the analysis and making adjustments to the bike. Took about 1hr 20mins altogether.

Waiting to receive the full analysis on email but there were some big changes made to my position which I wasn't really expecting. Saddle height has gone up 30mm or so and also moved forward. He said it's a big jump but to try it out on a couple of spins - if I can't settle in to it then to bring it back down and gradually work back up to the ideal height.

I'm also quite hunched over currently so he's going to give me some exercises to strengthen my lower back to straighten it out out

Just heading out now for the first spin in the new position so we'll see how I get on - he was saying when I was lower down it's great for power but put's a lot of strain on the knees over longer distances (ie. not track sprints).

I know of one boardsie whose knee exploded after irish fit moved his saddle by such a significant amount. Still not back on the bike properly.

It might be the right position to move to, but doing it all of a sudden is asking for trouble. I urge caution. 5mm today. 5mm next week. etc.

I agree totally with this. This has been generally accepted practice forever. I would be very concerned about any bike fit "specialist" who didn't point this out as a first principle.

Was this person whos knees "exploded" not told this??. If not I would have serious concerns.

I give a big thumbs up for IrishFit. I did have some trouble before going to them, sore knees and numb hands/wrists after very long rides. Few very small changes sorted the problems along with some cleat shims. Whole process was very through.

As above though, keep an eye on things and take note of how much is being moved. I know he does a before and after shot to make sure things don't adjust too much. And if when you are back on the bike and have pain, stop. Injuries take ages to fix, back injuries will never ever go away fully.

Was with IrishFit this morning and am happy with the service and the adjustments made. Was in almost the same situation as aidan.offbeat, the saddle was moved 4cm up, and I was also warned that I might have to 'drop it back down to get it up to 4cm' by a small amount gradually.
