That time of year again, any news results from friendlies leading up to it, so we could sort of base a who's hot and who's not

The problem with the junior cup is that players haven't yet developed physically so its hard for fans of Senior rugby to pay genuine attention, given the changes that will affect players from then on. For example I played outhalf/scrumhalf at Junior Cup level and now play in the back row, and Props who I played with currently play in the backs.

Its far more interesting for fans of Senior rugby to watch the Senior Cup when players have developed fully and have an idea of where they will end up at senior level. Even professional talent scouts will find it difficult to earmark players desitined for greatness at Junior level, other than players who stand out physically from the rest.

Speak for yourself irishbucsfan, i love the JC. Of course the senior cup is a better barometer of whose going to make it in the game etc. but there's way more to rugby than that, believe it or not.

It's a fantastically exciting competition. I feel its less weighted towards the big schools who at senior level have their players training almost like professionals, something that the smaller school can't/won't compete with. At junior level this gap isn't quite as apparent which can makes for a more open competition.

It's been 7/8 years since I was involved in junior rugby so I dunno what the teams are shaping up like this year. My little brother was on his jct two years ago, went on a great run to the semis, and I loved watching their jc games.
