Ok was playing Modern Warfare 2 last night and was just about to kill someone and bang the PS3 turns off! Went to turn it back on and got the infamous YLOD!

So basically is my Launch day 60gb dead for good? I know I could send it to sony for a repair but I dont think its worth it! Might just go and buy myself a new 250gb PS3!

The main thing im more concerned about is my game saves and other things saved on the hard drive! Is there anyway of getting these for the new PS3!

    any help would be appreciated

Unlucky mate. Try mounting your hard drive in your PC.

Buddy got his PS3 repaired for not reading discs last week via console repair guys. Total cost 95 quid. Down time 1 week. You could have saved a few quid right there.

Absolutely DO NOT HOOK THE HDD UP TO ANY PC, It will be formated once inserted, and unreadable by PC, then once you try and plug it into your PS3 again it will not recognise it and will prompt a format, completely deleting EVERTHING

A friend of mine's PS3 got the YLOD, and he fixed it with a heat gun and the instructions found here. YMMV.
