shut up and start studyin there no different
Actually personally I found German easier than French, I got a B in German in my JC and a C in French. That was probably because of our French teacher compared to our German one though.

Anyway, LC German is a big step-up, and at the end of the day you're still learning a language...except this time from scratch. It'd be far easier for you to improve your French than take up a new language altogether (and makes more sense).

    +1
Maybe take some grinds during TY? Or go on an exchange? Or go to French College?

It'd be ten times more work if you switched to German at this stage. Also, you'd lose out on an extra year of doing the actualy language.

My advice: Stick it out, and put in some work.

@Gaeilge-go-deo, don't start that crap, the OP was asking a genuine question.

    They're very different languages......

Also, if you're going to criticise someone, at least post using decent English.....Anymore muppetry and you're gone for a week :)

if i'm going to be brutally honest here, if youre as you say so bad at french what makes you think you will be good at german. some people arent as good at languages at other subjects, one language shouldnt really be soo much more difficult than another. i would either youre not a naturally language learner, i wouldnt rly kno tho, or you have mental block when it comes to french, a sort of stigma where your mind tells you you're bad and always will be so you just believe that.
if i was to really advise you, i'd say learning three years of a language youve never done in one year, instead of improving a language you already kno the basics of is stupid.. do some extra french study this year, try go to france, an exchange for a few weeks or months would b especially helpful i'd say

I've heard of people going from German to French in TY and it was a disaster. I think you'd be wasting your time changing to German. The grammar is very difficult, all the words look the same and even at junior cert the vocabulary and listening is way harder then French (I took both). Are you bad at Irish as well? Because that would tell me languages just aren't your specialty. The thing to do is use TY to get really good at French, go on an exchange, go to a camp, get grinds.

Exactly ya.. You're hardly goin to be surprisingly class at German if you're crap at french :S

Then why not say that, then tell him to shut up and get on with it.

Also where did "They're both the same" come from?
