I'm writing this to warn people NOT to take your car insurance policy out with its4women. Firstly, they charge every time you make a change to your policy so say your car is in the garage for a week and you borrow a car and want to put your insurance on it then there's an administration charge - €20 if you do it online yourself and €30 if you do it by phone. Then supposing you need to keep the car for an extra few days and extend the cover. Guess what? Yes, there's another administration charge for that.

My credit card has been hopping over the past few weeks with all the administration charges.

However, what's got me totally annoyed is that they say you can drive x and y type cars on your certificate of insurance and when you ring up and say I want to transfer my insurance to y car they tell you 'oh no, you can't do that, your certificate clearly outlines you CAN'T do that'. You can argue until you're blue in the face but they won't change their tune. I've had a similar experience to what I've just described and I've handed it over to the ombudsman for financial services because they wouldn't honour what was on my certificate of insurance.

In short I would NEVER use the company again and I would warn all my family and friends not to use them either. You may get cheap car insurance at the beginning of the year and provided you don't want to make any changes during the year it's fine. But if you need to change cover to another car then there are additional charges which means your insurance could be €20+ more expensive.

    Moved to Motors.

I'd also be reluctant to insure with them, I got a quote from them and for about 2 months after I was bombarded with texts, calls and emails asking me was I interested in cover, despite informing them that I had taken cover elsewhere and had no need of their services. After repeated requests for them to stop contacting me, I ended up getting a friend's hubby, who's a solicitor, to send them a letter, scare tactics basically. It was only after that they stopped. Luckily he just typed up the letter and never charged me :) still shocking that I had to go to those lengths to stop them spamming me.

I can't stand the idea of Insurance companies catering for a certain demographic only, wether it be women, the elderly etc. To me it seems to promote inequality in our society.

Thanks for moving, it's probably more appropriate here in the motors forum.

I can well believe it after seeing their carry on with them insisting that what was written in black and white on the certificate actually meant the complete opposite. It would've been hilarious if you saw it as a sketch on naked camera or something. In the end I told them I wasn't going to argue about it anymore, I didn't want to speak to them again and would let the ombudsman deal with it.

Ah the name is only for marketing purpose. Amazing you never hear an insurance company called youngfellaswith4points.ie

I know this is not the point the OP is making but just in case anyone thinks that the name of a company matters.

    Remember this?

    For bonza car insurance deals,
    Girls get onto Sheilas' wheels!

That's how I first heard of Sheilas' wheels. Guess what, they don't just insure women but more importantly, they don't just insure cars.

I'm insured with Tesco car insurance for my car and Sheilas' wheels insure my home and contents! ;) Cheapest quote by far two years in a row...of course, when it comes to claiming from them (hopefully never), I might have a different opinion on how good they are.

My point is that just because a name suggests it caters only to one demograph does not mean that it does, it's marketing only.
