Got a text from CDVEC today saying that they were closing their offices to deal with an 'unprecedented' number of grant applications this year. Just wondering if anyone got the text and has any thoughts on it.

I'm glad I heard from them - it means at least they have my application but it looks like its rice and beans for Christmas. I applied in August but because I had to supply some extra info (which took me all of a day to get) the process will take at least 4 months, maybe 5. This is by far the longest I've had to wait for the first grant installment. If this year is an indicator of things to come the Dept of Education maybe should think about revising the process, maybe bring forward the app. date or at least staff it properly - seems pointless to get all your funding in the second half of the year.

No, didn't get a text. Did you apply to the Dublin VEC? I got a letter from them mid-October saying they were processing my application, and that's it. My head is wrecked with it at this stage :(

CDVEC is City of Dublin VEC. They're in Ballsbridge and they sent out the text. There's also County Dublin VEC (CODUBVEC). They're in Tallaght I think. Maybe if you didn't get the text you're with them. Seems to be an issue with a couple of VEC's.

Yeah I sent mine to Tallaght alright, that might be it. Things are so tight at the moment, it's awful not knowing what stage the application is at :(

you can give them a ring they are usually very helpfull, just quote them your reference number that you got when they sent the acknowledgement of your application, or just give them your name.
I know i wont be getting anything this side of xmas so may as well struggle on for now.
