Changing Topshop item bought in North

I bought a coat in Topshop in Newry which I've decided to change.

Does anyone know if I can change it in Dublin or how it works? The coat was £75/€114.
Will I get the current euro equilivant of £75 or €114?

    Thanks,
    Susanne

If you buy something online and pay in sterling but then return it to a shop in the Republic you generally get the Euro price on the label. It might be the same for stuff bought in NI. Ring a Topshop and ask them.

You can change it in any store here, but the price is calculated by the daily exchange rate. So, it'll be whatever the euro equivalent of £75 is that day.

Not as sly as the people who bring back 8 items, trying to make money out of it...

Er...they're hardly going to refund you the euro price on the ticket! Can you imagine the amount of scammers who would buy expensive Topshop items in the North and then get a refund on them in the south, netting themselves a tidy profit?

I dont know how true that is. I bought a top in River Island in England decided I didnt want it so went into RI in Galway said I wanted to return it without receipt and I got a credit note for the Euro price.

Yeah but sure they wouldn't be able to get away with that if Topshop weren't ripping us off here in the Republic to begin with, am ordering everything on line now and it's ridiculous the amount I'm saving!

If you want an exchange/ credit note don't show your receipt and you're entitled to the euro pricing. If you want a refund tho you'll have to show your receipt and you'll only be getting the sterling equivalent.

My point is Topshop are well aware of the exchange rate when it suits them.

Do we really need yet another thread to degrade into a "UK shops using a ridiculous exchange rate" debate?

Perhaps this thread should be closed as the OP's question has been answered.

    That DEFINITELY shouldn't have happened!
I work in RI and firstly, store policy is no refund or even a credit note without a receipt. Secondly, we also calculate based on that days exchange rate.

I'd say whoever put that through the till for you got a bit of a talking to afterwards!
