Evander Holyfield vs. Francois Botha is on january 16th, this will be an interesting fight to see where evander is at the moment, if he cant beat Botha now then he must call it a day..

In saying that its competitive enough that if he beats Botha it shows he's still got something to offer..

    Thoughts?

2 fighters, well past their best, touring around to collect pay cheques, waiting until they get seriously hurt before calling it a day.

holyfield needs to hang up his gloves - he is already punch drunk.

I'm all for this fight, 2 ring veterans fighting each other, and if I could catch it on a stream I would. The only problem is if Holyfield wins he is going to want Haye and the Klitschkos and I really do think his time is past.
Not in the sense that he is on the slide as this has been the case for a while but the fact that the heavyweight division is getting a little interesting again and the champions are all formiddable. So for one I think he would get hammered, and 2 holyfield in a world title fight can only harm the sport imo.
It was ok when you had valuev, ibragimov, and klitschko as champs because it was so bad that you would have nearly preffered to see holy have a belt, but id rather see him fight botha, win and call it a day. Knowing that he is a legend of the sport, should have been wba champ again only for a bad decision and went out on a decent win.
We all know he wants to go out undisputed champ though.

Sadly it might be a case of it being too late.

Did'nt know they had set up a seniors tour.

This fight is absolute nonsense, and in boxing terms it is leading nowhere.

I do not want to watch this twaddle, I want to seee the likes of Haye or the Bros.

Instead of paying these guys boxing needs to pour its resources into finding exciting new young talent.

Joe he ain't going to call it a day. Which is sad considering what he has achieved.

The sad thing is Evander actually admits he can't do the full 3 mins of a round. I had hear he had money problems too but his big thing is that he said he wouldn't retire until he wins another world title. Hope he doesn't do himself any harm

This is the thing. When he's fighting guys that are also getting on in years then they are on the same page and they can both earn some money while not getting destroyed. So fighting guys like Botha, Seldon, Mercer or guys that are not particularly good, eg Valuev, that is ok, but there would want to be serious money up for grabs should he fight one of the world champs who at this stage wouldnt veen entertain him as it wouldnt do anything for their rep.

So it's official now. I don't no my time differences but if this is on at any reasonable time i'll pick it up. Two warriors fighting for one last chance or a boring jab fest between to golden deals candidates.
