If a person is doing a part time course in a University, are they eligible for the dole?

    I'm wondering this myself.

What I do know is that if you are on unemployment at least 3 months prior to doing a part time course, you can get onto the part time option of the Back to Education Scheme which basically make you keep looking for work while doing a course. As opposed to the full time option where you don't have to look for work.

The Back to Education Scheme is the same weekly pay as job seekers allowance.

    More information here:

To add my own related question:
If you do not qualify for the Back to Education Scheme, since I don't as I've already been on it, same question: can you get job seekers allowance while doing a part time course? I'm interested in doing an Open University course while working but as I may not get a job for a while... yeah.

I think you can, the assumption being that you remain available to work as course is only part-time....
