    Lose a co-worker.
    Lose a friend.
    Do funeral arrangements for friend.
Have your boss tell you "f*ck off".
    Have an car accident.
See coffins at work. Really see them only to later learn they were part of a Halloween prank.
    Quit a job.
    Become a terrorist
    Get another job.
Be exploited by your new boss.
    Lose a co-worker.
    Have liver problems.
    Become morbid.
    Become depressed
Be exploited by your flat mate.
    Lose your job.
    Be diagnosed with depression.

All this time, you have your family there to hold you together and you have a niece who is your god daughter who is the one thing who holds it all together through the bad times. Then she dies.

I realise the above is really what you want to hear, but unfortunately bad things do happen to us. However, good things also happen. Sure you didn't get this girl, but there are 3,000,000,000+ females on this planet, you'll find one.

Is there anyone you can talk to about these things? Because saying things out loud allows you to have ownership of those things, instead of those things owning you.

If you don't have someone to talk to, you can ask your GP to recommend a counsellor or there are voluntary groups also.

Unfortunately some people just keep on getting kicked, even when they're down.

Everyone has sh1tty stuff happen to them. My life reads like a soap opera some times. It can get a bit much at times but you have a couple of choices.

    1. Wallow in it thinking how unfair life is, constantly think about how you always have it so bad and become a miserable and bitter person.

    2. Just accept that sh1t happens and get over it.

Losing your mum and uncle is terrible and perhaps you should consider some greif counselling.
As for the girl, well this is one of those "sh1t happens" moments where you chalk it up to experience and learn from your mistakes, vowing to not let it happen next time.

In fairness, there are worse things out there than messing up with some girl. You only have to look around to see that. Start being thankful for things you do have as well as reflecting on things you don't. If you spend too much time in the negative well, thats what you'll become.

To answer the OP's question, it depends....

If you stay down and give up without a fight after the first one, then the answer is one.

Why should you get up if you're likely to get another sucker punch ? Because you don't know for definite that it's coming; in fact, you could argue that all of your bad luck for your entire life has already been used up.

It's all about perspective and staying determined / forcing yourself to be stronger and beat the odds.

    Best of luck! :)

P.S. Without being lousy, you said "Recently met a girl who's company i enjoyed but managed to make a mess of that aswell".....is there an "I" missing in there, somewhere, as in "Recently met a girl who's company i enjoyed but I managed to make a mess of that aswell"

Because if so you've got to differentiate a little between things that happen TO you and things that you DO / CAUSE; you can learn from the second set and avoid a recurrence.

    - Accept the things you cannot change
    - Have the courage to change the things you can
    - Have the wisdom to know the difference
