Cycling programme on TV

Top Gear Live is back in Dublin this week, and it got me thinking about what type of “magazine-style” TV programme we could have covering cycling.

    We could call it “BottomBracket”.

My suggestion for presenters would be el tonto, Lumen and Blorg. I’ll leave you to decide which one takes on the respective roles, but I do understand James May is known to wear sandals on occasions. But then again, Richard Hammond is prone to crashing.

The Raam, our very own cycling champ, could test ride the latest gear around a special circuit in Phoenix Park (helmet and balaclava obligatory, to protect his anonymity)

We could have “celebrities on a Velib” – say James Martin and Jeremy Clarkson doing a TT through Dublin’s streets (normal rush-hour conditions apply). Perhaps even get Biffo on a bike, when he’s out of work and looking to shed some of those excess kilos he accumulated over recent years at the taxpayer’s expense.

There would be a “Euro Wall” – basically if it’s Euro compliant it gets a thumbs up, if not it gets relegated to the “uncool” section.

We could include weekly commuter races, when ordinary members of the public get the chance to race each other into work, and set challenges such as a cycle to the South Pole (once the polar ice-cap has melted a little more)

Any other suggestions for a regular cycling show?

No, I don't think blorg should be a presenter but we would need an "unknown" tame racing cyclist. Some say that when he ties his bike to a lampost the front wheel is always pointing magnetic north, or that when he's angry he makes the sound of a quick release opening. All we know is he's called the blorg.

Biffo and Harney doing that indoor sprints thing would be nice. Kill two birds with the one stone.

If anyone out there had mad video skillz, a sense of humour and some spare time then they could have a big youtube hit on their hands...
