Does anybody know of anybody who has been prosecuted for non payment of contributions.

Heard a story recently where council kept ringing this selfbuilder for contributions payment. They threatened legal action. When asked how many people had been prosecuted for non payment the council official said "none".

Ive seen solicitors letter sent on behalf of Mayo Co Co. seeking payment of development contributions so I guess they were heading the legal route on it.

One word of note regarding the legal route, if one lets it get to the stage that the local authority go down the legal route regarding payment of planning conditions or other matters relating to a planning decision, they will also pursue one for the legal costs ( or some local authorities do anyway), even if it doesn't make it to court.

I've also seen this happen, an extra €1,800 for his trouble even though all had been settled a week before the court case.
