    Hi all,

Regular enough poster second time OP,

So I feel a bit ****ty today, I guess I just need to vent a little. I moved to Cork from home last summer for work as when I came back from travel there where no jobs and had to leave all behind. Now as I never worked away I felt this was an adventure even though I was leaving my other half/friends/family.

I manage to get back every weekend so its not too bad. Anyway, over the last two weeks I have made two stupid mistakes with money (nothing dishonest just lazy really) and the bosses are really on my ass over it the first one nearly cost me my job and the second though fairly minor caused him to feak out and leave and I haven't heard anything all day.

I'm pretty low about the whole thing cause I actually do like the job but I guess since this its making me really miss having a support system and I honestly felt like packing it in today and giving my notice.

When I said this to my OH she wasn't at all happy cause in fairness she is right and we can't afford me being out of work cause when I was unemployed when I got home it sunk us into a bit of a hole.

I'm at home now with noone really to confide in and I guess that is nearly more worrying then the prospect of being in for **** tomorrow. My inital thought was to start looking again for work back home and slog out here untill something comes up but with me working all week i wouldn't be able to interview until weekends and nowhere is going to ask for an interview on a saturday.

I can't take too many days off as i'm realy the only one who can do my job and all holidays are pre-arranged. So now i'm well and truly stuck unless i'm canned tomorrow :)

So I dunno what to expect really from writing this but it did help so thank you for reading it too the end I guess my question would how important is it to solider on in a job thats making you feel awful from worry for the money?

Thanks in advance for any help.

beating yourself up for making mistakes is not helping you at all. Just learn from them. Beating yourself up about them just causes you to obsess about them and Thats whats going to stop you from concentrating on your work and THAT will get you fired. Not the mistake so much. Its how you respond to that mistake. Its one think for a boss to see an employee mess up something, but to see that employee mess up and then regress into a Shell for the rest of the day - that is so much worse.

You want to give up your job? In this economy? With your OH opposed to the idea? Come on... Be glad you have a job and stick it out.

Sometimes it is all about the stories you tell yourself as well...

Bit of advice I got yrs ago.
If you F*** up in a job it is not the end of the world. It is a real opportunity.
The mess you just made has brought you to the attention of management. This is now your big chance to show them how wonderful you are.

So try not to stress about it or obsess. Just get on with your job. Show them you are competent and a good worker.

We all mess up in our jobs.
I have used the above advice when it happened - and without exception it has paid off - in all cases they know me by name - I know them by name - we say Hi to each other in the corridors - it all works out. Look chances are they made similar messes when they were in your position - but worked past it. Alot of the time it is how you handle yourself that stands to you.
