Registration certificate question on buying used car.

Looking at VW Golf 1.6. Owner is not in possession Reg. Cert. He says I can get in touch with dept. in Shannon. Surely he must produce this cert to me before any deal can be made. Also he feels that the NCT cert should be proof enough regarding the condition of the car....no need for my mechanic to check it out??
Any advice?

There are plenty of cars out there.

Don't touch it without seeing the reg cert.

Best case he lost it.

Worst case it is stolen.

Let him get in touch with Shannon and they will issue him a new VLC if indeed he the registered owner. He should have sorted that already before putting the car up for sale.

Sounds dodgy and given the choice out there I would not waste anymore time on that car.

stay away from them mk4 petrol engines. they are trouble. car will cost you loads in the long run. get a 1.8t petrol or a tdi.
