    hey,
my own lap top is sick and i was thinking of using my work one at home in the evenings til i get my own back. i have wireless broadband so hook up to my own system. i'm not doing any daft things, just the usual - facebook, google, boards etc...
if i use work lap top, can the sites i use to looked up by administration in work? i can't access personal/ social networking sites when logged on in work so i als do that at home in the evenings. or do i need to clear history after use?
    thanks

you might have a "proxy" server at work which runs your internet connection. You'll have to turn off that setting when at home because your company proxy isn't available to you.

you can just clear the history when you're finished.

make sure you've a firewall and virus checker, most of the time you're behind the company's network "defenses". Connecting directly means you'll need to have those things running on the laptop itself.

The laptop will save a history of all websites that you visit -- along with any saved passwords, e.g. AIB internet banking.

To protect your privacy and personal data, you should not only clear the history but also any "cookies" that contain your user names/passwords. Firefox doesn't delete them by default, so just make sure whatever browser you are using, e.g. Internet Explorer does. Use Firefox! :)

oh, no, that sounds complicated. is it then unlikelythat the lap top would be protected if hooked up directly to my broadband? how can i check that? i doubt i can install stuff myself cos that needs to go via admin..

Why don't you just connect up the laptop to your broadband and see what happens?
