It's not suprising if this does come to pass. Speculation has long been that the team would pull out of F1. Good sources James Allen, Joe Saward and Autosport all say that the team are re-evaluating their position in F1 and that Prodrive will buy their spot on the grid.

Richards has long said that he wants to move Prodrive to a better facility and into F1 and this would be killing two birds with the one stone. They have Kubica signed up already for next year so at least if it does come to be the team will have a top line driver to give good feedback and help the development. The team won two titles with Alonso relativly recently so they would be an attractive proposal, all in Dave Richards would be getting a pretty good deal in my view.

Not a great loss i suppose,as long as they just dont disappear then i dont see much of a change.

If they are sold presumably Kubica would be given the option of staying on or moving, Merc?.

Would Renault still supply engines to the teem? It wouldn't really bother me if the teem is sold but options for engines seem to be getting fairly limited.

Another side affect of banning engine development I suppose.

Is Briatore still involved with Mecachrome?

BBC are reporting that Renault have been sold but that the group will retain a minority shareholding of approx 25%. No other major sources have reported on this deal
