    A vocoder is typically used as an effect and not as an aid to bring crap singers into tune , ( Cher , Minogue , etc etc etc .... thats a different device altogether ! ) )

    Example of vocoder use is most recently Imogen Heap , Hide and Seek , some more famous examples are Pink floyd on Animals , Alan parsons project , Kraftwerk , etc.

    Theres a big list of artists that have used one halfway down the page on this site.
