a mate of mine moved into bracken grove and is trying to get a good broadband service. he's getting ntl tv subscription but they said they cant do broadband in that area. anyone recommend a decent broadband service without a phone line. looking for something with good download speeds as well.

    Cheers!

That's surprising as I have a mate in Greenfields (across the road) and they have NTL broadband.

O2, Vodafone or 3 Mobile Broadband. If you don't want mobile, try BT.

Don't think so. I doubt many would provide broadband without the phone line except the mobile ones.

Get him to check if any neighbours have a 3G broadband connection if they do get him to check what there signal is like before he enters any contract.

Lol,broadband through your phoneline is oldschool. I'm with Digiweb, wireless, superb service.

    I wouldn't touch ntl/chorus with a bargepole btw.

I am with UPC (NTL) and I find them good enough. I had a few quirky problems initially but they are sorted now.

If I didnt have the choice of cable or phone broadband I would go with wireless. Mobile Broadband is crap. When the local cell gets busy you probably wont be even able to surf the net. I know a good few people who have it and they always compare of the bad coverage signal and speed. Once they sign up to the contract after 1 month they are tied into it and cant get out.

My brother lives out in the sticks and he uses PermanNet wireless broadband and he finds them good.
