Black Ra1n (Cydia Problem)

I used Black Rain to jailbreak my iTouch and it worked like a dream. I go to install ‘Winterboard’ from Cydia. After it was done, I had to press the ‘Reboot Device’ button to complete the installation. But as it was ‘rebooting’ I received the Silver Apple icon and then the ‘connect to iTunes icon’. What seemed to have happened? It does this on EVERY app from cydia and rock that you must reboot to complete. Then I have to restore back to original fw.

    Any fix for this?
    thanks

Did you just buy the device recently ?

Well, I find when I install apps in Cydia or whatever it simply 'resprings' the device, not completely reboot. You don't need to restore your firmware when you do reboot it, simply run Blackra1n again. I'm guessing you're using an iPod Touch 3rd Generation. For the time being, you can only use Blackra1n as a tethered jailbreak, meaning the jailbreak is active as long as you do not reboot the device completely. There are people out there working on an untethered jailbreak soon so you can have your iPod permenantly jailbroken. If you need any more help with this, feel free to ask me.

    Hi guys

Yeah, it's a recently purchased iTouch 3rd generation 3.1.2 i think is the firmware. It's no good so for the time being as you can't install anything off Cydia

    Thanks

    Antirip,

Its not a Cydia problem , nor is it a firmware problem .The problem lies with the new bootrom currently been installed on all Apple devices (see my older posts Here
When your device is shut down either by you , loosing battery , App crash , or Cydia reboot , then you will need to hook it back up to your P.C (tether) and open up blackra1n on you P.C , hit "make it rain" , and you will be back to normal .
There is no need to keep restoring your device , just make it rain !

Again its not a Cydia problem , go ahead and use Cydia .If you need to reboot then do that , but use blackra1n to get you past the apple&usb logo screen .

A couple of tips and you will be fine ...
Only install from Cydia when your P.C is near.
Keep a good battery level (car charger will help)

    Hope this helps

    M.

    thank you ;)

I did know that you had to plug into the pc afterwards but I didn't "make it rain". Just missed out on the final step.

    Thanks again for the help!

Oh, and I just remembered. I think Winterboard was an exception, normally when you install applications in Cydia there is no need to reboot, but I guess WB needs to modify theme files or something like that. Personally I reboot the device once in a blue moon so I don't mind the fact I need to "Make it Ra1n" every time I reboot.

    it is a Cydia/winterboard problem.
Whenever installing from cydia, time to time you need to make it rain indeed. But with some apps such as winterboard it gets stucked in the apple logo and making it rain, just wont do it. it keeps rebooting in recovery mode over and over
So far havent found the fix and im freaking out. just got my iphone 3gs yesterday.
I read that i need to restore to original fw from itunes. but, wont it install the latest firmware (3.1.3) which will make my 3gs not able to jailbreak/use cydia!?

    Thx,

    counterfeit

Do all the new iPhones from Vodafone come with the 3.1.3 fw installed?

Has anyone been able to jb their new vodafone iPhone with sn0wbreeze? Says it will work with iPhone 3GS only if it has the older bootrom (non-MC model).
