Attitude of some mechanics....

I got a 04 Ford Focus there about a month ago and been having problems with the engine light coming on. I got it from a small dealer with a 3 month warranty so got in contact and they were fine and said drop the car off at there mechanic.

I've never met someone so dog ignorant in my life. He was from the country and I phoned before I dropped it in. He basically grunted and said yeah, drop it in whenever. I dropped it in that day and he just took the key from me and said nothing basically. I rang next day and asked if it was ready and he went "Ehhh, should be ready yeah". I was thinking, well I would have liked a phone call when it was rather than having to ring them. Came to collect asked him what was wrong he said "Dunno, the guy who fixed it is gone home".

Anyway, light came back on the next night so I got onto the dealership again and the fella was annoyed cos he had paid the mechanic and got an invoice. He rang the mechanic and told me to drop it back in. Did so, the usual friendly service, rang next day and said no its not ready, nothing about when it might be or anything just short and abrupt.

Just needed to rant, good thing I'm getting it covered by the warranty.

So if you go into a shop and the shopkeeper doesnt say hello to you will you be on ranting about that or is it just mechanics that you have a problem with you should be dealing with who you bought the car from its up to them to keep you informed.

Its the least I'd expect. Its called customer service and in this climate it'd help a good bit.

He didnt fix your car at all. He just reset the light by cearing faults or whatever. As soon as the original problem occured again, on comes the light.
I would suggest you deal directly with the selling garage. Get them to tell you when its ready. Get them to tell you that it has been fixed and what has actually been done. Its most likely some sensor that is operating just out of its proper range - starting to fail and this will need replacing to cure the light properly

Well it's both actually. I don't mind an abrupt attitude if you're EXCELLENT at your job. The light came straight back on. Attitude therefore leads me to believe indignant of there workmanship which is obviously not excellent.

It is up to the dealership but I was instructed to by the mechanic to drop the car direct to him so I did.

Yeah, that's what I'll do, I'll just only phone where I bought it from like. It seems to come one when I'm in 5th gear? But yeah, cheers for the advice.
